On Veterans Day 2009, family, friends, community and nation celebrated the life of U.S. Army Sgt. Dale Russel Griffin from Vigo County, who was killed October 27 while serving in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Memorial gifts for Sgt.
